Another day, another Danish interview! And today, it is a young girl who gets interviewed!
Meet Rikke Skytte!
La version française est ici !
Hey Rikke! Can you first of all tell us about yourself?
I'm 18 years old, I'm sweet and just a bit crazy. That's how I would describe myself. I'm in my last year of school, so I'm really trying to live a double life right now. I need to be 100% focused on music and school, but I love being busy and I love doing what I do right now. Making music and being with my friends and family!
I dream of being able to live of my music career, but also I dream of getting a real job. Right now, I see my music as a hobby, and being a thing I seek to when I feel for it. Music can't be forced.
What's the message behind your song? Why should it go to Eurovision?
The story behind Color My World
, is actually made of just two basic sayings, but they are so meaningful. Treat other people as you want to be treated, and color your world as you want it to be colored. The song describes how you can pick up pieces you lost, and color them in a new way, to create a new picture.
I see Eurovision as the year's biggest party, it's just impressing to see that so many different nationalities can come together to make a show like this. I believe Denmark needs to try out different ways to get to the final, to be able to find the best song which can be able to win Eurovision. I don't think that Denmark has been able to find the right winner song from Denmark, which also could win the Eurovision.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I absolutely LOVE all kinds of music!! I love how different music can make you feel different ways! Right now, I'm really into the sassy American singers, such as Kehlani and Beyoncé.
My favorite Danish singers right now are Saveus, Topgunn, Katie Keller - all the sassy stuff!
It's a hard business! It's hard to just even get known, you're really lucky if you can make a living out of it.
What are your thoughts on our world?
I believe the one thing which is wrong with the world today, is the fact that we don't treat other people as we want to be treated ourselves. We don't respect other people, and that's where we lost connection to a good world. I get sad when I watch the news in Denmark, because it is never good news, only bad ones. We only focus on the bad things, instead of the good and happy things.
I get happy from everything, down to the smile from a stranger in a bus, to celebrating a birthday.
Rikke, thank you so much for this interview! With her song Color My World, she will be contestant number 3 this Saturday during the DMGP, the Danish national selection for Eurovision 2017.
