Saturday is a big night for Denmark! The country holds its annual Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, and will have to find an act that can come back to the final after two misses.
And one of the hopefuls is René Machon!

Hello René! Can you introduce yourself ?
I am a father, and a teacher. I have been playing music since I was 3 years old.
I come from a big family. 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Most of them are also playing and singing music. I made an album in 2011, and was afterwards on a little tour in Denmark. Today I sing in a coverband named Cruise. I started the band with my brothers 20 years ago, and we are still going strong.
I now hope to win the DMGP with the song Warriors
, and get the chance to sing at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. And get to the final in Kiev.
Can you tell us about your song? And your relation to Eurovision?
The song Warriors
is my best song ever. I am very proud to sing this song. It has a great international sound, and could get to the final in Kiev.
A great producer asked me if I would like to sing the song, and I said yes.
Eurovision is a great thing to get all the countries around Europe and the rest of the world together. Have fun and happy times with each other. Music is everything. It would be a great honor for me to sing for millions of people around the world and hopefully get to the final.
The last time I was in DMGP was a wonderful time. Tina is a great singer and a wonderful woman. But I did not have the right focus on my performance. I did not enjoy myself enough. This time I am focusing on my performance, and will give all that I got in me.
I do not know what went wrong over the last two years. It was two very good songs in 2015 and 2016. I like the Olsen Brothers that won with Fly on the wings of love
What kind of music do you listen to?
I love to listen to Sting, John Mayer,
Coldplay and many others foreign artists. In Denmark I don’t have any special favorite.
What are your thoughts on our world?
Love, happy smiling people make me smile. People that are helping other people that are in need. The small things in life make me happy. I love life and everything that goes with it. I hope that we someday can wipe off all the bad things in the world.
René, thank you very much for this interview! He comes back, alone this time, with his song Warrior, and he will be hoping to win the ticket to Kiev this Saturday!
